Foreigners who come to Argentina with a goal to get a job or to internship must obtain a Work Visa. Work Visas are issued by the State Department of Migration Service of Argentina (Dirección Nacional de Migraciones). Permission is usually requested directly by the Argentine company or organization that has concluded the contract. Otherwise, the Consulate requests this permission.
• Employment agreement with an Argentine company or organization. If the company or organization inviting to Argentina is not registered as a legal entity in Argentina, then a «declaration» issued by the company's management or the government of the country where the organization is registered, as well as recommendations from business partners, must be submitted to the Consulate;
• Birth certificate translated into Spanish by a certified translator;
• Marriage certificate translated into Spanish by a certified translator (if the spouse appears in the application);
• Passport with at least 18 months remaining before the expiration date (applies to each family member);
• 3 photos for each family member (4x4; blue background is preferred; in profile ¾ to the right).
- Article 29(e) Visa – This is the Short-term Visa which is issued for a short-term work. The expiration date of this Visa — 15 days, and then it can be extended for another 15 days.
- Article 15(e) Visa: Labour Contract -Temporary Residence Visa. This type of visa is issued to employees and to persons, who are doing in an internship under a contract with an Argentine company. The minimum validity period is from 6 to 12 months. This category of foreign workers is subject to the general rules of labor law, so it is necessary to apply for CUIL (Clave única de identificación laboral (literally) — employee code, based on the data provided by your employer. This code receives accruals for pensions, social insurance and various benefits). To obtain a visa, you must have an official employment contract with an Argentine company.
- Article(E) Visa: Secondment – Temporary Residence Visa under regulation 18/94 – This visa is issued to employees who have been sent to Argentina by the company they work for, for a period of at least 6-12 months. An employment contract is not required in this case.
• Employees who have an agreement with an Argentinean company or institution must also sign an employment contract in the presence of the consul (usually the consulate charges an additional fee for this).
• Employees sent to Argentina by a foreign company must sign an employment contract with the relevant company.
• If the applicant for an Argentina Work Visa wants to travel with his/her spouse and children, proof of their relationship must be presented — you must provide a marriage certificate and/or birth certificate.
Upon arrival in Argentina, workers must apply for a National Identity Document and a Worker Identification Code (CUIL).
A fee is charged when applying for a work visa. It is recommended to find out the amount of the fee at the Embassy of Argentina in the host country.
