Skill Assessment in the process of immigration in Australia

Do not confuse basic terms: emigration and immigration. The term “emigration” refers to the process of leaving your resident country. On contrary, the term “immigration” implies to the process of moving to a destination country.  Therefore, Skill Assessment System it is the system that used when emigrating from Russia and immigrating to Australia.

From July, 1 2012 alterations to the program “Occupational immigration to Australia”: potential migrants, both within the territory of the country and abroad, can apply only through the SkillSelect system.

SkillSelect is an electronic service designed for those who intent to obtain Occupational immigration to Australia. Potential migrants demanded to: 1) register for the waiting list (file an application), 2) then obtain a permission by getting passing score and by inclusion in quota of current round, 3)only then one should apply for one of «Occupational migration»visa types. How are points for immigration to Australia calculated?

It is still possible to get a permission to work visas 189, 190, 489 only after the passing points test. Evaluation criteria remain the same. The principal difference is that applicant’s scores is valid at the moment of getting a permission process (on the second step of selection system)

Pass mark – is a minimum number of points, which should be scored to meet the requirements of “Occupational migration”. Department of immigration is entitled to change the Pass mark. However, getting a passing score does not mean getting permission, because Permits are issued in priority sequence: 1) to the highest priority applicants and 2) depending on the allocated quota. If you are lucky and you still get permission, you need to prove that the information you specified is true.

Stage 3 of professional migration (applying for a visa on-line)

As the permit for immigration to Australia is approved, there is no need to paste the visa sticker into the passport. All information about issued visas is located in the electronic database Visa Entitlement Verification Online (VEVO). The applicant will be sent an e-mail or a regular letter (if the e-mail address was not specified when submitting the application) as confirmation of the issuance of a visa, indicating the period and all the details of the visa.
